17/08/2020 – Breakfast and Afterschool club FAQ’s
When does the breakfast club and after school club reopen?
Both the breakfast club and after school club at The Royal High Primary School reopen on Wednesday 12th August.
Where will the club be based from?
Both the breakfast club and after school club will be based from the dining hall.
Can I enter the school playground to drop off and collect my child?
Yes, parents can access the playground to drop off/pick up their child from our designated access door (Gate ‘A’ at the front of school, nearest the road) during the following times:
- Breakfast Club: Access from 07:30-08:30hrs
- After School Club: Access from 15:45-17:45hr
Any parent wishing to drop off/pick up their child out with these times should phone the club mobile and a member of staff will meet/bring their child to the designated access door. Please note parents and carers are not allowed in the school building at this time.
Will my child be in a group/bubble when attending breakfast club and after school club?
Yes, all children attending will be divided into a minimum of two groups which will remain consistent throughout their period of attendance. Each group will have their own dedicated space within the setting. Groups will always be required to maintain physical distancing of 2 metres from other groups. Each group will have at least one staff member who will maintain physical distancing where practicable. Our staff team will allocate the groups and considerations will be given to classes, siblings and friendships when doing so. Children attending both breakfast club and after school club will be grouped together.
Will my child be able to play outdoors?
We will be playing outdoors as much as possible and maximising use of the outdoor play areas in the playground. Parents/carers should ensure children are equipped for all weathers i.e. rain, cold, sunshine.
Will my child be able to access hand washing facilities?
Yes, each group/bubble will be allocated their own toilet facilities where they will have access to soap and warm water. The RHPS pupils will use the toilet designated to them for during school time to minimise risk infection. Hand sanitiser will also be available within the setting and will be used when going outdoors and upon their return.
Will there be increased hand washing?
All children and staff will be required to wash their hands:
- On arrival
- Before and after snack
- Before and after playing outdoors
- Before and after going to the toilet
- Before leaving to go home
Will children be sharing equipment and resources?
Where practicable, each group/bubble of children will have access to their own resources and equipment. However, where equipment is used by multiple groups, it will be cleaned thoroughly before use.
What if my child displays symptoms when attending the setting?
Your child would be taken to the designated ‘isolation room’ within the school where they would wait until you come to collect them. Please come to the entrance at the far left of the school (near the wildlife garden) to collect your child in line with the school’s infection control risk management
We would ask you to collect your child as a matter of urgency before returning home to self-isolate and arranging a test.
Your child would not be permitted to return to the setting until the test results are received.
Will my child still receive snack?
Yes, snack will continue to be provided but the routine will look a bit different. All snack will be prepared and served by a staff member to each individual child in their group/bubble.
My child attends Craigentinny Primary School and is due to attend after school club at Royal High Primary School on a Friday afternoon. Is this still okay?
Yes, we will still collect children from Craigentinny on a Friday lunchtime before walking to the after school club at The Royal High Primary School. Craigentinny children will form their own group/bubble on a Friday afternoon.
