Dear Parent/Carer

Welcome back to Primary 6.  We hope you had a lovely October holiday!  In class we are working hard, continuing to follow the Golden Rules and earn Dojo Points and Nation Stars.

This block we are looking forward to our Health and Well-Being topic all about the Keeping Myself Safe. We will be learning about different strategies on how to keep safe outside of school.

In Numeracy we will be learning about Percentages and Decimals, Angles and Patterns and Sequences. We are continuing to use Going for Gold to develop our automaticity in multiplication and division.  TO HELP US WE WILL NEED TO PRACTISE TIMESTABLES AND SMALL NUMBER BONDS EVERY DAY.

In Reading we will be bringing home books this term.  In our reading we will be looking at structure and vocabulary to help us in our understanding of the books we are reading.  In our spelling homework we will not be writing sentences this term, instead we will be choosing a reading challenge to complete to the best of our abilities based on our reading book.

Through our Writing this term we are continuing to improve our technical skills and will be using VCOP to develop high quality pieces.  Our writing genre will cover report writing and story writing.  We know that we must have neat handwriting and presentation AT ALL TIMES.

We continue to enjoy celebrating our achievements and can’t wait to hear about everyone’s successes throughout the year.

Things to remember
We need to make sure that shoes with laces are tied securely and we are able to tie and untie the laces ourselves as this is continuing to be a health and safety concern on the stairs.

Gym Kit should always be on pegs and be named, however if we take them home to be washed they need to be brought back at the beginning of the next week.   Gym days for P6A are Tuesday and Wednesday, and for P6B are Tuesday and Thursday.

We need to ensure that all school uniform is clearly named.

We need to remember to bring in our homework completed and on time. It should always be completed to a high standard with neat handwriting, date and tidy presentation.  Spelling and Reading will be issued on a Monday for a Thursday, and Maths will be issued on a Tuesday for the following Monday.  Our homework planner should be discussed at home with our parent/carer and then the homework planner should be traffic lighted/signed.

Class News
We are looking forward to working with our invited guests to learn about Christianity through Bible Alive.  We will also be involved in a science focus week in November.  We continue to enjoy learning French with Madame MacPhail.

Kind regards
Caireen Grant P6A & Linda Mckee P6B
